- date2015-10-19

- body_text
Last November, Yogurtland had the opportunity to serve Thanksgiving dinner to its friends at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children’s). Being able to provide a service to such an amazing organization is a humbling experience in itself, and seeing the patients and families full of smiles as they enjoyed the evening was a deeply moving experience that instantly got us thinking of other ways we can contribute.

Yogurtland is founded on the idea of making a bad day good and a good day great, and as Thanksgiving dinner comes but once a year, we wanted to find more ways to contribute to CHOC Children’s on a regular basis. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at CHOC Children’s was easily the next fit.

The NICU holds special classes for families with infants under the facility’s care. These sessions are meant to offer emotional support for family members and to provide a break from the trauma and stress the families experience day-to-day. The frozen yogurt we donate to this program plays a small role compared to the outstanding support and care that the NICU provides for its families.

Since then, we have worked together with CHOC Children’s to bring a cup of happiness to more events that inspire and bring joy to its attendees. In June 2015, we provided frozen yogurt to the hospital’s 14th Annual Children’s Oncology Prom. The event created an atmosphere that allowed teens to focus more on being a person and less on being a patient, if only for one night. It was a hugely moving experience and it inspired us to seek community involvement for future projects.

From May 11 - July 5, 2015, Yogurtland locations throughout California, Washington and Nevada raised over $220,000 together with its millions of fans to help children at 11 hospitals on the West Coast. 100% of guest donations went back to the hospitals and over $44,000 of those donations went to CHOC Children’s.

Supporting CHOC Children’s has been a rewarding experience that continues to inspire us in our mission of making a bad day good and a good day great. We’re excited to see what we’re able to do with CHOC Children’s in the future and will continue to find more ways to give back to our communities!

- body_text
20,000 Yogurtland fans along the West Coast put on their running shoes and headed to the #WillRunForFroYo FroYo5K event for fun, excitement and of course, frozen yogurt!

Decked out in the coolest yogurt-inspired costumes, friends and family walked, strolled, jogged and ran their way to the finish line. As they crossed the finish line –aka the FroZone – participants were greeted by cheering Yogurtland associates and were given a fully loaded goodie bag, which included a finisher medal, slap bracelets, Yogurtland giant spoons and a refreshing custom cup of Yogurtland frozen yogurt.

After enjoying everyone’s frozen treat, participants joined in on games like the gummy bear toss, a Yogurtland FroYo eating contest and a costume contest for an afternoon of fun in the sun.

We love opportunities that allow us to spend time with our communities, and we had a blast sharing our yogurt and supporting everyone who participated in the event. A percentage of the proceeds from the FroYo5K series was donated to several local charities, including Mommy & Me Cancer Foundation and The VMC Foundation.
